Please spend a few minutes with your student weekly
to review assignments and grades in each class. Follow these steps to check
grades and assignments:
· To check
overall grades in home access:
·
Home Access Center website: https://homeaccess.sps.org/homeaccess
· Log-in: Enter User Name and Password
o If
you have not previously logged on, you will be asked to create two questions
with answers in case you forget your password in the future.
o If
you need your log-in and password, please come in or call the office.
· Click
on Classes for assignments and click on Grades for overall scores in each class
at mid-quarter and at the end of the quarter.
· To message teachers in Canvas:
·
Canvas is the platform our teachers and
students use for learning. As a parent, you are automatically able to be an
observer in each of your child’s Canvas courses with your own log-in and
password. To find your child’s Canvas courses, log in to Canvas at www.sps.org > Click on “Parents” > Click on
“Resources” > Click on “Canvas.” The
log in for Canvas is the same as eschool home access log-in and password. If you are unable to log-in to Canvas or
home access, please call the main office. We will be happy to assist you!
·
If you are unfamiliar with Canvas and would
like quick tips on how to change preferences or contact a teacher through
Canvas, click here for information.
· For accuracy, please use eschool Home Access for updated weekly grades. If you have questions about the assignment or grade, please email the teacher.
11. Our buses need assistance getting to the building in the afternoon. Please allow school buses by when you are waiting in the car line. If you have questions about transportation, please call 523-0500.
12. Picking up your student in the afternoon carline? At this point, we will be dismissing students by name only from classrooms to the afternoon carline as you appear in the carline. Students will remain in the classroom until they are called to the carline by the adults supervising. To speed up the carline time, please have your student’s first and last name displayed on paper on your dash. Please use LARGE letters. We will revisit carline dismissal processes as the year progresses. Thank you for your patience as we get our students to and from school safely!
13. Need before school care or after school care for your student? SPARC will be offering before and after school care each school day from 6:30 am until 6 pm at Carver. Click here for registration information.
14. We want to stay connected with you! If you have questions about your child’s assignment or grade, please email the teacher. Click here for a list of all emails for our building.
15. Need a Hotspot? The school district has purchased T-Mobile hotspots to issue to students needing internet access at home. The hotspot is filtered for only educational use and will be issued per family. Carver has a limited number of hotspots available that will be distributed on first-come, first-serve basis. To obtain a hotspot, an application must be signed by the parent/guardian and returned to the front office at Carver. If you need an application, please call Mrs. McGuane at 523-6800. This process is for seated and virtual students. Once a hotspot is issued, the hotspots will need to be renewed monthly in person for seated students. Fully virtual students will be able to renew their hotspot online each quarter by messaging Mrs. McGuane through Canvas. Hotspots not being used or reporting low usage will be required by the district to be returned to the building. Students will be charged $50 for non-return of hotspots.
16. Breakfast and lunch will be provided for free to all in-person students each school day thanks to a waiver from the USDA. In addition, there are options for in-person students to receive food for the weekend and for virtual students to receive seven (7) days of food each week. To receive the seven days of food each week, parents or guardians must register in advance. Click here to register.
17. Parents! Need help accessing and checking learning with your student??? Click here for a list of resources from SPS. You can also click here for a guide created by our librarian for “how-to” items for parents. Please be sure to reach out with questions about eschool or canvas. Ask your student to canvas inbox (email) his or her teachers and read the answers from the teacher together or email the teachers directly (teacher email list here)! Teachers are available via email or the librarian is willing to help via email, phone, or Instagram.
