Carver Announcements for March 26


Hello Carver Families!

We hope you had a great weekend! This email is intended to keep parents updated on reminders, upcoming activities, and announcements. Be sure to let the office know if you change your email address. Be sure to check Carver's webpage for updated daily announcements.

1.        Grade cards were posted March 22. Please be sure to check grades online as Carver has gone paperless with mid-quarter reports and grade cards. Call or email if you would like a printed copy. To access grade cards and mid-quarter progress reports, use the directions below:
·       Log on to the home access district website:
https://homeaccess.sps.org/homeaccess/
·       Enter your user ID and case sensitive password. If you do not remember your password, please obtain a handout with your home access password from school.
·       If you have not logged in before, you will be asked to create two security challenge questions before proceeding. Please create the questions and supply the answers.
·       Click the IPR GRADES at the top, center of the page.
·       Click on Report Card or Progress Report.
·       MP1 stands for Marking Period 1 (1st quarter), MP2 stands for Marking Period 2, MP3 is for Marking Period 3 (3rd quarter).

2.        Sports physicals will be offered again through Trudi’s Kids on the following dates: February 20, February 21, March 27, and May 3. If your student will need a sport physical for fall 2018, please call 523-6800 (school office) or 523-6830 (school nurse) for details. Click here for information about Trudi’s Kids.

3.        If you would like to join us, the next Carver PTSA meeting is scheduled for April 9 at 6:15 pm. If you need more information, please contact PTSA via email at CarverPTSA@outlook.com.

4.        Carver PTSA BOGO Scholastic Book Fair is next week from April 2 - 5. Show your reading spirit this week with reading themed spirit days:

·       Monday (March 26): Cougars lose themselves in a good book - Dress like your favorite book character.
·       Tuesday (March 27): Cougars claim a favorite genre - Dress like your favorite genre.
·       Wednesday (March 28): Cougars curl up with a good book – Wear PJ’s and crazy hair.
·       Thursday (March 29): Reading makes you bright - Dress in bright colors.
·       Friday (March 30): Cougars “PAWS” to read - Wear your Carver spirit wear.

5.        Know someone who wants to impact students and Carver! Please consider encouraging or nominating the person for an office in Carver PTSA next year! Carver PTSA is working on nominating and securing new volunteers to fill the following positions next year: Secretary, Treasurer, 1st Vice-President, 2nd Vice-President, and President. PTSA is an important part of Carver as we work together to provide support for our Carver school community. If you are interested in finding more information about the positions for next year, please reply to this email, contact PTSA via email at CarverPTSA@outlook.com or call the office.

6.        The SPS library department is looking for feedback from parents on library access. Please consider taking a few minutes to give your feedback before the March 30 survey ends. Click here for the link.

7.        Carver Middle School students have partnered with teachers to create a Pick-a-Project to fund a media lab for students. This project would provide two green screens complete with lights, eight recording boxes, microphones, and soundproofing tiles to allow our students to create broadcasts for school announcements and record audio or video for class assignments. Please consider sharing this Pick-a-Project with others to help Carver students. Click here for a link to share and help!

8.        Summer School EXPLORE program is now accepting summer school enrollment. Click here to enroll.

9.        Springfield Public Schools will now offer the option of receiving important alerts via text message. In the past, you may have received voice calls from the school district to share important information such as school cancellations. Soon, you may choose to receive this information via text as well. SPS will send out more information in the near future from the communications department about the option of alerts via text.

10.     Want to stay connected to the weekly announcements using Remind texting? If so, text @1carver to 81010 to get these announcements weekly. The announcements can also be found on Carver’s Twitter and Facebook pages.

Carver Announcements for March 19


Hello Carver Families!

1.        Thank you to PTSA and our parents for the wonderful lunch provided to teachers today! What a wonderful treat to start the week! If you would like to join us, the next Carver PTSA meeting is scheduled for April 9 at 6:15 pm. If you need more information, please contact PTSA via email at CarverPTSA@outlook.com.

2.        If you haven’t purchased a yearbook and would like to have one reserved, please do so this week! You can purchase a yearbooks in the office or online at yearbookforever.com. The cost for a yearbook is $18.

Carver Announcements for March 5


Hello Carver Families!

1.        The next Carver PTSA meeting is scheduled for April 9 at 6:15 pm. If you need more information, please contact PTSA via email at CarverPTSA@outlook.com.

2.        Yearbooks are on sale in the office or online at yearbookforever.com. The cost for a yearbook is $18.

3.        Spring break for students is March 9 - 16. SPARC is offering a program designed for middle school students if you need care for your student for any of those dates. Contact Tasia Kinney at 874-2412 or at tkinney@springfieldmo.gov or click here for more information.
