Attention 8th grade parents! Transitional Transfer requests are available from Nov 1 –

the one in your address boundary. Each year, SPS eighth-graders have the
opportunity to request a transitional transfer to the high school of their
choice. A transitional transfer will not be revoked once approved. Only
students wanting to attend a high school outside the address attendance
boundary will need to submit transitional transfer. For more information or to

To
help celebrate Carver’s 25th year, this month we are collecting
canned food to donate to the Ozark Food Harvest. Our
goal is for each first hour to collect 25 cans of food. The food drive will continue
through November.
4.
Have gently used books
you would like to donate? We
are collecting books for all age groups to donate to Great Circle Crisis
Center. If you have books that you aren’t sure what to do with anymore, please
send them to the library or office and we will deliver them to individuals in
need!
5.
Please join us for Carver PTSA meeting in the
Carver library on Thursday, Dec 12, from 5 pm – 6 pm. All parents/guardians are
invited to attend. If you need more information about Carver PTSA, please
contact PTSA via email at CarverPTSA@outlook.com or on facebook at Carver PTSA.

Parent nights for 8th grade
parents are scheduled for Kickapoo and Parkview. Kickapoo parent night is set
for January 14 at 6 pm in the PAC. Parkview parent night is set for January 16
at 6:30 pm in the café. Reminder flyers will be sent home with all 8th
graders the week of December 16th.
7.
Basketball season has started! Come out to
cheer on our teams! We encourage
parents to come with students and cheer on our teams at each of our sporting
events. For students without a guardian present in the stands,
the guardian must pick up the student by 8 pm for each home and away game for
all sports. Students attending the game as a spectator should make clear
arrangements to have a ride at the designated pick-up time of 8 pm PRIOR to
attending the game. Students picked up later than the expected
pick-up time or with no pick-up ride in the stands by 8 pm could forfeit the
privilege of attending future athletic activities as a spectator. If the
game is not over at the 8 pm pick-up time, the driver/pick-up ride can enter
the game for FREE for the remainder of the game to sit with the student in the
stands and cheer our teams to victory. Please visit with your student prior to
the start of the game on spectator expectations.
8.
The secure entrance construction on Carver’s
main front entrance has temporarily paused while a part is on order. The
expected delivery date and completion of the reminder of the secure entrance
vestibule has been rescheduled for the week of Thanksgiving. While we wait and
during that final construction, the front entrance will be accessible. Please
use the buzzer located outside the main entrance and bring a picture ID to the
main office.
9.
As a
reminder, school ends at 2:45 pm! Please have your student picked up before 3
pm each day. Students not picked up before 3 pm will come
to the office and we will call home. Please come into the office to speak to an
administrator when your pick up your student after 3 pm. For our families that
need a later pick up than 3 pm, please enroll your student in the Y-Teens
(after school program provided for pay by the YMCA). Click
here for registration information.

and call home to have the chromebook brought to school. Students unable to have
the chromebook brought to school will be expected to take their own notes on
any online assignment or online learning and do the assignments as homework due
the next day.

CELL PHONE POLICY FOR CARVER: Students can
use cell phones in green zones during the day. A green zone is between classes
(students using a cell phone are not excused for being late to class for using
a cell phone and will receive a tardy consequence), during lunch, before school
until 8 am, and after school ends at 2:45 pm. Carver is not responsible for
lost or stolen cell phones or cases. The restroom and bathrooms are red zones.
No phone use in the restroom or locker rooms. Classrooms are also red zones for
phones unless the teacher has specifically allowed cell phone use in the
syllabus. Please contact the teacher if you have questions about cell phone use
in the classroom. Please make sure your student with a cell phone understands
the cell phone policy if you send a cell phone with them to school. If an
emergency arises during the day, please contact the office (417-523-6800), and
a message can be relayed to your student. Thank you for helping us navigate
student cell phone use during the learning time at school.
