Carver Announcements for April 30


Hello Carver Families!

We hope you had a great weekend! This email is intended to keep parents updated on reminders, upcoming activities, and announcements. Be sure to let the office know if you change your email address. Be sure to check Carver's webpage for updated daily announcements.

1.        MAP testing continues tomorrow morning for Language Arts for all grade levels at Carver! Please make sure your child has plenty of rest and is on time tomorrow to school with a charged chromebook. Students are required to use the chromebook issued to them for MAP testing. We will be MAP testing Tuesday and Wednesday this week. Students are not allowed to use cell phones during MAP testing and must have the device turned off and put away during the entire MAP testing time from 8:15 am – 11:20 am. Please call the office if you need to get a note to your child during that time. Please talk with your child about MAP testing and encourage them to do their best!

2.        Please make your voice known! The district is seeking feedback from parents regarding the performance of and their satisfaction with the district, school, and building leaders to help SPS make improvements. Use this link to provide input and feedback. This survey is has been extended until May 4th and is estimated to take approximately 15 minutes to complete. Thank you for your feedback!

3.       Teacher appreciation week is May 7th through May 11th! Please help us appreciate our fantastic Carver teachers during teacher appreciation week by sending your child’s favorite teacher a handmade card or gift. Need ideas?? Click here to access a list of favorite items from your child’s teachers!

4.        Please be sure to check grades online. Call or email if you would like a printed copy. To access grade cards and mid-quarter progress reports, use the directions below:
·       Log on to the home access district website:
https://homeaccess.sps.org/homeaccess/
·       Enter your user ID and case sensitive password. If you do not remember your password, please obtain a handout with your home access password from school.
·       If you have not logged in before, you will be asked to create two security challenge questions before proceeding. Please create the questions and supply the answers.
·       Click the IPR GRADES at the top, center of the page.
·       Click on Report Card or Progress Report.
·       MP1 stands for Marking Period 1 (1st quarter), MP2 stands for Marking Period 2, MP3 is for Marking Period 3 (3rd quarter).

5.        Carver Middle School students have partnered with teachers to create a Pick-a-Project to fund a media lab for students. This project would provide two green screens complete with lights, eight recording boxes, microphones, and soundproofing tiles to allow our students to create broadcasts for school announcements and record audio or video for class assignments. Please consider sharing this Pick-a-Project with others to help Carver students. Click here for a link to share and help!

6.        If you haven’t purchased a yearbook and would like to have one reserved, please do so this week! You can purchase a yearbook in the office or online at yearbookforever.com. The cost for a yearbook is $18.

7.        The next Carver PTSA meeting is scheduled for May 14 at 6:15 pm in the library at Carver. We will be nominating and voting on PTSA offices next year and we encourage anyone interested to contact us and attend! If you need more information, please contact PTSA via email at CarverPTSA@outlook.com.

8.        Sports physicals will be offered again through Trudi’s Kids on the following dates: February 20, February 21, March 27, and May 3. If your student will need a sport physical for fall 2018, please call 523-6800 (school office) or 523-6830 (school nurse) for details. Click here for information about Trudi’s Kids.

9.        Ozarks Food Harvest is bringing Free Grocery Distribution to families of Carver Middle School on May 10th in the Carver School Parking lot from 9:30 am - 10:30 am. Families of children who currently attend Carver Middle School are invited to participate in the Free Grocery Distribution. The family member who is picking up food must show ID when receiving food. Please bring at least two boxes or laundry baskets with you day of distribution. If you are walking, a wagon is great! Rain or shine, the distribution goes on unless school is cancelled.

10.     Please make sure to contact Nurse Nancy to pick up all medications prior to May 22 at 11 am. Per Springfield public school medication policy, school nurses are not permitted to send unused medication home with students, it is necessary for an adult to pick up all medications.  All unclaimed medication will be discarded on May 22, 2018 at 11:00 am.
