Carver Announcements for Oct 28, 2019

Hello Carver Families!

This information is intended to keep parents updated on reminders, upcoming activities, and announcements during the school year. Be sure to check Carver's webpage for updated daily announcements.

1.        First quarter ended on Oct 10th! Grades are posted online. Please be sure to check assignments, grades, and attendance online each day for your student and talk with your student about each grade. To check grades and assignments, please follow these steps:
·       Home Access Center website: https://homeaccess.sps.org/homeaccess
·       Log-in: Enter User Name and Password
o   If you have not previously logged on, you will be asked to create two questions with answers in case you forget your password in the future.
o   If you need your log-in and password, please come in or call the office.
·       Click on Grades for grade card for the quarter and on Classes for assignments and overall scores in each class throughout the quarter.

2.        Have some clothing you don’t wear hanging out in your closets? Make some space and help a good cause by donating the items to help the Victory Mission. Carver’s National Junior Honor Society is sponsoring a drive to help the Victory Mission, a local non-profit organization, as the Mission strives to meet the needs of the homeless in our community. Please consider helping our NJHS students raise items to support our community by donating new travel-size toiletries and gently used clothing. All items can be dropped off at the main office.

3.        Please join us for our Veteran’s Day Assembly at 8:30 am on November 11 to honor our veterans! All families are welcome to attend.
a.        If you have a family member in the military (past or present), please submit a picture for the assembly. You can reply to this email attaching a copy of the photo or send a photo to the office with the family member name, student name, and branch of the military. If you send the photo to the office, we will get the photo back to you after scanning it. Please be sure to label the photo or the envelope on the photo.
b.        We have reserved seating at the assembly for veterans or those currently serving and their families. Please let us know in advance if you can attend the assembly and we will reserve seat(s) with your name. On November 11, we will escort you to your reserved seating. We will have light refreshments following the assembly for veterans and family members.

4.        Basketball season starts tomorrow! Come out to cheer on our teams! We encourage parents to come with students and cheer on our teams at each of our sporting events. For students without a guardian present in the stands, the guardian must pick up the student by 8 pm for each home and away game for all sports. Students attending the game as a spectator should make clear arrangements to have a ride at the designated pick-up time of 8 pm PRIOR to attending the game. Students picked up later than the expected pick-up time or with no pick-up ride in the stands by 8 pm could forfeit the privilege of attending future athletic activities as a spectator. If the game is not over at the 8 pm pick-up time, the driver/pick-up ride can enter the game for FREE for the remainder of the game to sit with the student in the stands and cheer our teams to victory. Please visit with your student prior to the start of the game on spectator expectations.

5.        The secure entrance construction on Carver’s main front entrance resumed on September 30. The estimated completion date of October 25 has been extended to November 8. During this portion of the secure entrance construction, the main entrance will not be open to students, parents, or faculty.
