Carver Families!
This
email is intended to keep parents updated on reminders and announcements during
the school year. Be sure to check Carver's webpage for all additional announcements
on clubs, activities, and student events!
1.
Third
quarter ends March 7! Please check your student’s assignments
and grades online and talk with your student. Alert now phone calls will be
sent on March 1 for students with all A & B grades and for students with a
D or F. To check assignments or grades online, please follow these steps:

Log-in: Enter User Name and Password
o If
you have not previously logged on, you will be asked to create two questions
with answers in case you forget your password in the future.
o If
you need your log-in and password, please come in or call the office.
· Click
on Grades (for grade cards) or on Classes (for assignments) and overall scores
in each class.
2.
Want to purchase a yearbook online? Yearbooks
are on sale for $18! Buy online at yearboookforever.com or in the office until
March 1. Click
here for the link to buy online. (Be sure you have selected Carver Middle School in Springfield, MO.) Orders are
accepted through March 1st online or in the office. Check or exact
cash is required to purchase a yearbook in the office.
3.
Student
spectators attending home or away basketball games without a guardian present
during games must be picked up or have pick-up rides in the stands by 8:00 pm
for each home and away event. Students attending the game
as a spectator should make clear arrangements to have a ride at the designated
pick-up time PRIOR to attending the game. If the game is not over at the 8 pm
pick-up time, the driver/pick-up ride can enter the game for FREE for the
remainder of the game to sit with the student in the stands. Students picked up
later than the expected pick-up time or with no pick-up ride in the stands by 8
pm could forfeit the privilege of attending future athletic activities as a
spectator.
4.
Carver PTSA is hosting Little Caesar Pizza
Fundraiser to support the class celebrations in May. Carver 6th and 7th graders
will bring home information next week. Click

a coupon booklet to support our school. If you haven’t had an opportunity to
purchase a coupon booklet, call the office and we will get you a coupon
booklet!
5.
Please join us for Carver PTSA meeting in the
Carver library onThursday, March 7, from 4 pm – 5 pm. All parents/guardians are
invited to attend. A presentation on the upcoming SPS bond will take place at
the March 7th PTSA meeting. Everyone is welcome. If you need more

Please make sure you have your child picked
up by 3 pm each day. If you need after school care for your student or just
want to avoid the afternoon carline, sign up for Y-teens after school care at
862-7456 or at the Ward or Jones YMCA buildings. Y-teens is available from 2:45
pm – 6:30 pm each school day at Carver.
7.
Springfield voters will be asked April 2 to
consider a $168 million bond proposal to fund 39 high-priority projects, which
were recommended by a citizen’s task force to make our schools safer and
stronger for students and staff. The projects will renovate or reconstruct 6
schools, create safer entrances at 31 schools, plus add classroom space to
expand preschool. If approved, the entrance at Carver will be remodeled to
increase security with double-entry points and a series of intercoms, cameras,
and electronic locking controls. Click

Make Explore
part of your summer plans! There will
be two sessions of Explore summer school this year. Session I could start as
early as June 3. Session II will be held July 8-July 30. Middle school students
will attend Explore classes Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Registration for middle school students begins March 6. Register for Explore
classes at sps.org/Explore.
9.
The district
wants your feedback on technology! The school district has partnered with
BrightBytes, an educational research and analytics organization, to learn more
about using technology for student learning. All certified staff members, students
in grades 3-12, and parents are asked to participate in a brief electronic
survey through March 8. The surveys should take approximately 15 minutes to
complete. When taking the survey, please your role (staff, student, or parent)

10.
Jordan Valley is partnering with middle
schools to offer an immunization clinic at Carver on Monday, April 29, from
8:30 am -11:30 am. If you need more information on what immunizations are
needed for middle school, please call or email Nurse Nancy at 523-6830 or at nasadler@spsmail.org to obtain an
immunization information letter and permission form.

Encourage your student to read at home! Carver
students are competing in a Reading Royale Challenge designed to encourage
reading at home. The Reading Royale Challenge will run through April 26th.
Students will set reading goals during visits to the library. Please talk with
your student about his or her reading goal and encourage reading at home!
13.
Springfield Public Schools needs bus drivers!
If you or someone you know would be interested in becoming a bus driver, please

Reporting safety concerns will now be easier
with a new, anonymous tip line launched by Springfield Public Schools. The
dedicated tip line will enable students, teachers, parents, or community
members to notify SPS School Police of potential safety threats with a quick
text message to 417-319-2901, through the MySPS app, or on the district website
at www.sps.org/tipline.
