Springfield voters will be asked April 2 to
consider a $168 million bond proposal, called
Proposition S, to fund 39 high-priority projects, which were
recommended by a citizen’s task force to make our schools safer and stronger
for students and staff. The projects will renovate or reconstruct 6 schools,
create safer entrances at 31 schools, plus add classroom space to expand
preschool. If approved, the entrance at Carver will be remodeled to increase
security with double-entry points and a series of intercoms, cameras, and
electronic locking controls. Click
here for more information about Proposition S.

As a reminder, please make sure your student brings
a charged Chromebook to school each day. Students without a Chromebook will call
a parent or guardian to bring the Chromebook to school. If the Chromebook
cannot be brought to school, students will take notes to complete the work at
home that evening. Please remind your student to charge his or her Chromebook
nightly and bring the Chromebook daily.
4.
Encourage your student to read at home!
Carver students are competing in a Reading Royale Challenge designed to encourage
reading at home. The Reading Royale Challenge will run through April 26th. Students will set
reading goals during visits to the library. Please talk with your student about
his or her reading goal and encourage reading at home!

Reporting safety concerns will now be easier
with a new, anonymous tip line launched by Springfield Public Schools. The
dedicated tip line will enable students, teachers, parents, or community
members to notify SPS School Police of potential safety threats with a quick
text message to 417-319-2901, through the MySPS app, or on the district website
at www.sps.org/tipline.
