Carver Families!
This
email is intended to keep parents updated on reminders and announcements during
the school year. Be sure to check Carver's webpage for all additional announcements
on clubs, activities, and student events!
1.
Families of children who currently attend
Carver are invited to participate in the Free Grocery Distribution on November
13 from 9:30 am – 10:30 am. The family member who is picking up food must show
ID when receiving food. Please bring at
least two boxes or laundry baskets with you day of distribution. If you are walking, a wagon is great! Rain or
shine, the distribution goes on unless school is cancelled. Need help with a
Thanksgiving meal? A local church has offered to help. Please reply to this
email or call the office at 523-6800 and we will submit your name.
2.
DODGE BALL TOURNAMENT IS BACK!!! Do you love Dodge Ball? If
so, join us on November 16 at 5:30 pm for a Dodge Ball PTSA fundraiser
tournament! Create your own 5-member team to play in the adult tournament or
the student tournament or show up at the door to join a team! It’s $5 to play
or $1 to laugh from the stands! Click

bring extra money to buy extra lives and to browse at the PTSA book fair during
the event! Want to volunteer to work at the gate or concessions to help out? Click

3.
PTSA Scholastic Book Fair started today! The
dates for the book fair are November 12
– 16! Make plans to attend the book fair this year and browse the selection
of books! Click
here if you would like to volunteer for PTSA and earn Scholastic book
dollars.
4.
Mid-quarter
ends on Friday, November 16. Please check your student’s
grades online this week on home access and talk with your student about each
grade before mid-quarter ends Friday! An alert now phone call will be coming
home after mid-quarter reports for each student with all A’s and/or all B’s and
each student with a D or F at mid-quarter. Please take this time to talk
with your child about their grades before mid-quarter ends and before the alert
now phone call. To check grades online prior to mid-quarter, please follow
these steps:

Log-in: Enter User Name and Password
o If
you have not previously logged on, you will be asked to create two questions
with answers in case you forget your password in the future.
o If
you need your log-in and password, please come in or call the office.
· Click
on Classes for assignments and overall scores in each class.
5.
Basketball games start this week. Student
spectators attending home or away games without
a guardian present during games must be
picked up or have pick-up rides in the stands by 8:00 pm for each
home and away event. Students attending the game as a spectator should make
clear arrangements to have a ride at the designated pick-up time PRIOR to
attending the game. Students picked up later than the expected pick-up time or
with no pick-up ride in the stands by 8 pm could forfeit the privilege of
attending future athletic activities as a spectator. If the game is not over at
the 8 pm pick-up time, the driver/pick-up ride can enter the game for FREE for
the remainder of the game to sit with the student in the stands.
6.
Mark your calendar, picture retake day is November 27. Pictures will be returned prior to picture
retake day. If you know you need picture retakes and would like to order online
in advance, please contact Wagner Pictures at www.WagnerPortraitGroup.com using
the password CarverMS. Extra copies of the picture order form are also
available in the office.
7.
The next Student Council dance is scheduled
for November 30. Students who qualify to attend will bring home permission
slips next week.
8.
Please join us for Carver PTSA meeting in the
Carver library on Thursday, December 13,
from 4 pm – 5 pm. All parents/guardians are invited to attend. If you would
like to participate in Superintendent’s Open Parent Forum, please let PTSA or
the office know. If you need more information about Carver PTSA, please contact

to see you at the PTSA meeting!

Reporting safety concerns will now be easier
with a new, anonymous tip line launched by Springfield Public Schools. The
dedicated tip line will enable students, teachers, parents, or community
members to notify SPS School Police of potential safety threats with a quick
text message to 417-319-2901, through the MySPS app, or on the district website
at www.sps.org/tipline.

Check out the new MySPS app from Springfield
Public Schools to access menus, bus delay information, parent resources, online
MealPay, directory link, notifications, eschool plus access, canvas access, SPS
news, and the school calendar.
12.
Please make sure you have your child picked
up by 3 pm each day. If you need after school care for your student or just
want to avoid the afternoon carline, sign up for Y-teens after school care at
862-7456 or at the Ward or Jones YMCA buildings. Y-teens is available from 2:45
pm – 6:30 pm each school day at Carver.
13.
