Carver Announcements for Feb 19

Hello Carver Families!

We hope you had a great weekend! This email is intended to keep parents updated on reminders, upcoming activities, and announcements. Be sure to let the office know if you change your email address. Be sure to check Carver's webpage for updated daily announcements.

1.        The next Carver PTSA meeting is scheduled for March 5 at 6:15 pm. Come join us in the library for the meeting and get personalized help from SPS staff for tips on checking Canvas and eSchool. If you need more information, please contact PTSA via email at CarverPTSA@outlook.com.

2.        Sports physicals will be offered again through Trudi’s Kids on the following dates: February 20, February 21, March 27, and May 3. If your student will need a sport physical for the late spring or fall, please call 523-6800 (school office) or 523-6830 (school nurse) for details. Click here for information about Trudi’s Kids.

3.        Carver PTSA is collecting Boxtops until March 1. Please help support us by donating boxtops to your student’s favorite teacher. A teacher in the contest with the most boxtops wins a Pie-in-the-Face! J

4.        Mid-Quarter progress reports are ready! Please be sure to check grades online as Carver has gone paperless with mid-quarter reports and grade cards. Call or email if you are unable to access grades or would like a printed copy. To access grade cards or progress reports, use the directions below:

Log on to the home access district website:

*Enter your user ID and case sensitive password. If you do not remember your password, please obtain a handout with your home access password from school.

*If you have not logged in before, you will be asked to create two security challenge questions before proceeding. Please create the questions and supply the answers.

*Click the GRADES at the top, center of the page.

*Click on Report Card or Progress Report.

5.        As part of the IGNiTE teaching and learning initiative, the school district asks for student, parent, and teacher feedback on the use of technology for student learning. The survey will take approximately 15 minutes to complete. Click here to begin the optional survey.

6.        Yearbooks are on sale in the office or online at yearbookforever.com. The cost for a yearbook is $18.

7.        Summer School EXPLORE program is now accepting summer school enrollment. Click here to enroll.

8.        Carver students planning to visit Washington, D.C. during spring break will have a final meeting with parents and studens on Feb. 22nd from 5:30 pm to 6:00 pm to finish paperwork. Parents must attend with the student for this meeting. Please email David Rice at djrice@spsmail.org for more information.

9.        Basketball season has started! Games start at 5:30 pm. If your middle school student plans to attend without you to supervise them during the game, they must have a ride at Carver by 8 pm to be able to attend future games. If the game runs late, the ride may come in at 8 pm and sit in the stands for free. Elementary students are expected to have an adult with them at all Carver games. SPARC offers a game day pass with tutoring, face-painting, and food on game days for students from 2:45 pm until the start of the game. Contact Tasia Kinney at 874-2412 or see the Carver announcements on the webpage for more information.

10.     Want to stay connected to the weekly announcements using Remind texting? If so, text @1carver to 81010 to get these announcements weekly. The announcements can also be found on Carver’s Twitter and Facebook pages.

11.     Recognizing your child’s teacher or SPS employee is easy! Click on the link here  or find the form on the SPS website!

Have a great week!

Dr. Dana Powers
Carver Principal
