ATTENTION PARENTS OF SEATED CARVER STUDENTS: On November 9th, students
currently seated for learning at Carver will begin attending school four days at
Carver on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Wednesday will remain virtual for seated students. Students in
fully virtual learning will remain fully virtual and will have the choice to
return to seated in January. With the change to four days, busing schedules may
be adjusted. If you have questions about the bus schedule adjustments, please
call the Transportation Office at 523-0500.
3.
As a reminder, the morning and afternoon carlines and morning and
afternoon buses may run behind schedule and take longer as students return to
school four days starting November 9th. Please be patient as we get our students to and from school safely this
week! We will continue the same procedures for morning arrival and
dismissal. For afternoon dismissal, we will dismiss students from classrooms by
name. To speed the time in the carline, please
have your student’s first and last name displayed on paper on your dash.
Please use LARGE letters. Students walking home from school using the crosswalk
will be dismissed after carline ends.
4.
Picking
up your student in the afternoon carline? We will dismiss
students at 2:55 pm for the carline by student name only. Students will remain
in the classroom until they are called to the carline by the adults
supervising. To speed up the carline time, please
have your student’s first and last name displayed on paper on your dash.
Please use LARGE letters.
5.
Second quarter started
October 26! Please be sure to check assignments, grades,
and attendance online in eschool or Canvas each day for your student and talk
with your student about each grade. Grades cards for first quarter will be
available in HomeAccess on October 30.
· To check individual assignments and message teachers in Canvas:
· Canvas
is the platform our teachers and students use for all assignments. As a parent,
you are automatically able to be an observer in each of your child’s Canvas
courses with your own log-in and password. To find your child’s Canvas courses,
log in to Canvas at www.sps.org
> Click on “Parents” > Click on “Resources” > Click on “Canvas.” The log in for Canvas is the same as eschool
home access log-in and password. If
you are unable to log-in to Canvas or home access, please call the main office.
We will be happy to assist you!
· If
you are unfamiliar with Canvas and would like quick tips on how to change
preferences or contact a teacher through Canvas, click
here for information.
· To
view grades and assignments in Canvas, click on Grades on the left side of the
Canvas page. The student’s overall grade will be shown on the top right and at
the bottom. For accuracy, please only note the row labeled ‘Total Grade.’ If
you have questions about the assignment or grade, Canvas offers a way to
immediately contact the teacher through inbox.
· To check
overall grades in home access:
·
Home Access Center website: https://homeaccess.sps.org/homeaccess

Department, is offering the seasonal flu vaccine to any student free of
charge, and will be available to both virtual and seated

SPS sporting events
guidelines for Carver Middle School: While
we welcome our families and fans support for our Carver student athletes, there
are new COVID-19 expectations and guidelines for all spectators attending
Carver sporting events. Due to COVID-19 and to provide space for social
distancing, student sections have been closed until further notice. Students
attending as fans must be seated with their parent or guardian during the game
and wear a mask throughout the games. Please
click here and review other COVID-19 spectator guidelines for attending Carver games.

Have a school issued Kajeet hotspot? As
a reminder, all SPS Kajeets must be renewed each month in the school library.
Mrs. McGuane, Carver’s librarian, will send reminders through Canvas. Please
have your child bring the device by the Carver library to renew the account
each month. Kajeet accounts not renewed each month in the school library will
be closed by the district and the company providing internet service may begin
billing the home for continued use. If your student no longer needs the Kajeet
device, have them return it to the school library. Kajeet hotspots issued to
Carver’s fully virtual students will not have monthly renewals and will only
need to be renewed in January.
12.
Carver teachers have created a virtual
Open House Tour for parents! Check out the information on each
slide for your child’s teachers to learn a little more about them! Click
