1.        Third quarter ended March 7! Grade cards are ready in Home Access. Please check your student’s grades from 3rd quarter by clicking on “Reporting Period 3.” You can also check 4th quarter progress by clicking on “Classes.” Be sure to talk with your student about the importance of grades. o   If you need your log-in and password, please come in or call the office.
·       Click on Grades (for grade cards) or on Classes (for assignments) and overall scores in each class.

2.        Springfield voters will be asked tomorrow, April 2, to consider a $168 million bond proposal, called Proposition S, to fund 39 high-priority projects, which were recommended by a citizen’s task force to make our schools safer and stronger for students and staff. The projects will renovate or reconstruct 6 schools, create safer entrances at 31 schools, plus add classroom space to expand preschool. If approved, the entrance at Carver will be remodeled to increase security with double-entry points and a series of intercoms, cameras, and electronic locking controls. Click here for more information about Proposition S.

3.        MAP testing begins April 23. ELA and math testing for 6th – 8th graders will be on April 23, April 24, April 30, and May 1. For 8th graders, science testing will also be on May 7 and May 8.  Testing will begin at 8:10 am after breakfast in the classroom. Please make sure your student brings a charged chromebook and arrives on time for MAP testing.

4.        As a reminder, please make sure your student brings a charged Chromebook to school each day. Students without a Chromebook will call a parent or guardian to bring the Chromebook to school. If the Chromebook cannot be brought to school, students will take notes to complete the work at home that evening. Please remind your student to charge his or her Chromebook nightly and bring the Chromebook daily.

5.        Encourage your student to read at home! Carver students are competing in a Reading Royale Challenge designed to encourage reading at home. The Reading Royale Challenge will run through April 26th. Students will set reading goals during visits to the library. Please talk with your student about his or her reading goal and encourage reading at home!

6.        Make Explore part of your summer plans! There will be two sessions of Explore summer school this year. Session I could start as early as June 3. Session II will be held July 8-July 30. Middle school students will attend Explore classes Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Registration for middle school students begins March 6. Register for Explore classes at sps.org/Explore.

7.        Jordan Valley is partnering with middle schools to offer an immunization clinic at Carver on Monday, April 29, from 8:30 am -11:30 am. If you need more information on what immunizations are needed for middle school, please call or email Nurse Nancy at 523-6830 or at nasadler@spsmail.org to obtain an immunization information letter and permission form.

8.        Our counselors at Carver have an online form accessible in Canvas to help students as they encounter situations at school. Students can access the form at school or at home via Canvas using a chromebook to alert a counselor of a concern. If you need help or are unable to find the Canvas resource, please call 523-6800 and ask to speak to a counselor.

9.        Springfield Public Schools needs bus drivers! If you or someone you know would be interested in becoming a bus driver, please click here for a short video and apply online at SPS.org.

10.     Please make sure you have your child picked up by 3 pm each day. 13.     Check out the new MySPS app from Springfield Public Schools to access menus, bus delay information, parent resources, online MealPay, directory link, notifications, eschool plus access, canvas access, SPS news, and the school calendar.
